  • E-print Network - E-print coverage of different DOE-related science and technology areas is quite uneven as a result of disparities in e-print use among the various scientific disciplines.

  • E-print Network: Research Communications for Scientists and Engineers - This site offers several options for locating preprints, ie., articles that have not yet been published.

  • EAFUS Search for a Food Additive - A database that lists the purposes for which individual food additives are used.

  • Earth Observing System - The EOS web site offers information from and about EOS, EOS field experiments, and EOS missions (satellites). EOS publications, EOS images, and EOS data catalogs are presented. Among the publications are: issues of Earth Observer; Algorithm Theoretical Basis Documents (ATBDs); EOS Reference Handbook; EOS Data Products Handbook; factbooks; brochures; and posters.

  • Earth Observing System (EOS) - NASA's Earth Observing System collects global data via satellite. Sections are provided for educators and scientists/researchers, with access to satellite images, datasets, and other resources.

  • EDGAR Database of Corporate Information - "EDGAR, the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval system, performs automated collection, validation, indexing, acceptance, and forwarding of submissions by companies and others who are required by law to file forms with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)." Please note that EDGAR does not contain all of the submissions to the SEC.

  • Education Statistics Quarterly - The Quarterly offers a comprehensive overview of work done across all of NCES. Each issue includes short publications and summaries covering all ANCES publications and data products released in a given time period as well as notices about training and funding opportunities. In addition, each issue includes a featured topic with invited commentary, and a note on the topic from NCES.

  • Education World - With sections on lesson planning, professional development, administrator's desk, technology integration, and school issues.

  • Education World: Best of ... series - A series of "best of" from 1997 to the present. A FREE resource for educators looking for practical ideas and useful resources.

  • Educational Resources on Asia - This site provides resources and links to educational material relating to Asia. These include reference works, online periodicals, educational films and suppliers, K-12 curriculum materials and vendors, full-text of significant historical documents (primarily constitutional), as well as demographic, economic, educational, and political statistics. Maintained by the UCLA Center for East Asian Studies.

  • EECS Technical Reports - This site is on the home page of UC Berkeley's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS). Technical reports listed here include the EECS Technical Report series (started in October of 2005), the CS Technical Report series (started in 1982 and ended in 2005), and the ERL Technical report series (started in 1984 and ended in 2005). Full text is included for the EECS and CS series, but not for the ERL series.

  • Encarta Encyclopedia - Try to ignore all the advertisements and go straight to the search box for MicroSoft Network's free encyclopedia. Note that there are links to a dictionary and an atlas as well.

  • Encyclopedia Mythica - Brief entries on figures from world mythology and other mythology and folklore topics.

  • Encyclopedia of Television - Selected articles from the Encyclopedia of Television, a well known reference book.

  • English as a Second Language - An excellent starting point for ESL students on the web. Includes listings for pronunciation, grammar, reading, and writing. Produced by Rongchang Li, a professor of ESL.

  • EnviroFacts Data Warehouse-Water - Searchable U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reports.

  • Episode Guides Page (epguides.com) - Massive listing of U.S. television series, with brief episode summaries and actor credits. Some non-U.S. series included, mainly British.

  • Episteme Links - Gateway site offering thousands of links to philosophy resources on the web. Includes philosophers, special topics, jobs, department web sites, electronic journals, and more.

  • ERIC: Education Resources Information Center - ERIC provides free access to more than 1.2 million bibliographic records of journal articles and other education-related materials and, if available, includes links to full text. ERIC is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, Institute of Education Sciences (IES).

  • EROS Home Page - EROS (Earth Resources Observation Systems) Data Center is a clearinghouse for remote sensing data produced by the U.S. Geological Survey. A variety of products is described at this site; some must be purchased, some datasets are available via FTP, and the Earthshots data is viewable on the Web.

  • ESRI Home Page - ESRI produces a free GIS data viewer called ArcExplorer, which you can download at this site, along with compatible data. Features a web search for other compatible data sets (Data Hound), an introduction to GIS, educational opportunities, and the GIS Jump Station, a listing of GIS web sites. The site was undergoing extensive revisions at the time of review.

  • Essays in Philosophy - Twice yearly journal published out of Humboldt State.

  • Ethics Updates - Enormous site focused on ethics issues, including racism, sexism, poverty, animal rights, relativism, much more. Includes links to related sites, articles, and bibliographies of print resources.

  • Ethnologue - Linguistic catalog of all the languages of the world. Find languages by name, language family, or geographic area. Include maps of languages by region.

  • Ethnomusicology, Folk Music, and World Music - Find organizations, institutions, archives, and much more. Done by the University of Washington Music Library.

  • European Literature, electronic texts - From the Western European Specialists section of the Association of College and Research Libraries, links to electronic texts in European languages other than English, including French, German, Italian, Latin, and Spanish.

  • Evaluation of information sources - This page contains pointers to criteria for evaluating information resources, particularly those on the Internet.

  • Exalead - Nifty but little-known, Exalead displays search results with a thumbnail of each web page. Has many unusual advanced search options.

  • Excite: Articles about Mutual Funds - Excite, a World Wide Web search engine, offers a NewsTracker service on topics ranging from Business, to Entertainment, to Lifestyle. The Business portion offers a category for mutual funds. Articles pertaining to mutual fund investment are tracked and presented to Excite users free of charge. Articles come from such sources as daily newspapers (LA Times, New York Times), financial papers (Australian Financial Review), and newswires (PR Newswire). This is a quick, easy, service for researches seeking articles from reputable sources on various topics and does not require registration.

  • Extension Toxicology Network - EXTOXNET - This searchable site includes Pesticide Information Profiles (on more than 150 pesticides) with trade/other names for the pesticide, regulatory status, toxicological effects, ecological effects, environmental fate, physical properties, and more; Toxicology Information Briefs; Toxicology Issues of Concern; and Factsheets.
